Anchorage Noir

Posted by on Tue, Oct 2, 2012 at 3:02 PM

Anchorage police have started a homicide investigation after passers-by discovered a woman lying in the parking lot of a Turnagain Street church this morning.

A light-skinned woman with auburn hair, who appeared to be in her 20s or 30s, could be seen on her left side, face pointed skyward, as detectives arrived at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Police have not identified her.

Two people on their way to work early Tuesday spotted the woman at the same time, said police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker. A 911 call came in about 8:15 a.m., he said.

It is not known if the woman was killed in the church's parking lot, or in the church itself, or somewhere else altogether.

Unitarians are often referred to as "God's frozen people." Not sure what the average temp is in Anchorage this time of year.
