Partying for Gay Marriage Tops $15,000

Lovers of gay love flooded the New McDermott and Granada apartment buildings on Capitol Hill Saturday night, to drink beer, snack on rainbow cupcakes, and throw their money at Washington United for Marriage, the campaign urging voters to approve gay marriage in our state. "We're up to $15,776 and we're not giving up!" says party organizer April.

Residents of the apartments are trying to raise $20,000 to counter a donation made to the anti-gay marriage campaign by their buildings' owner last month (backstory here).

Just curious whether there was any reluctance by the manager to provide courtyard access for setup or for non-residents attending, given that a new deadbolt was said to be installed on the courtyard gate last week.
