Barack Obama vs. Thurston Howell Romney: The Debates Are Coming!

Posted by on Thu, Sep 20, 2012 at 10:28 AM

We're so excited for this presumed Republican shitshow (knock on wood, ALWAYS knock on wood), we feel a little sick. But where to watch, with other people for maximal schadenfreude? Also: need booze! Here are the dates and the places we know that are showing them so far. Do you know of other debate-watching bars? Please put in comments ASAP!

74th Street Ale House in Greenwood showed the debates in 2008. Great beer and great food.

I've been looking forward to this. But: Is The Stranger renting out a room for election night, like last time? I can't wait to watch the spectacle of one state after another going blue as Romney's face goes pale and Fox News goes berserk. And then we pop champagne and celebrate when they "project" Obama the winner, and then laugh at the pasty white Teabaggers watching Romney give his concession speech. (Am I getting ahead of myself?) All this would make this looooong year-plus election season worth it.

Oh! And, late in the night, we can celebrate the final approval of gay marriage in Washington (after it has become a reality in Maine and Maryland earlier in the night), watch McKenna go into whatever his next stage in life will be, and wonder what will happen now that medicinal marijuana is ostensibly legal. (I'm not really following that last one, actually.)

There will also be the charter school initiative, or whatever, but we can't have everything.

the 'debate' doesn't include jill stein from the green party, so it will be boring as hell.

No booze at Naked City, though. :( I require vodka during debates so I'm gonna have to stick with 74th Street Alehouse but I'll be dreaming about Naked City's BBQ field roast sandwich the whole time (or until the vodka gets to me or the debates get interesting err..well, I'll think about it at some point, I'm sure). :)
