Jimmy Carter's Revenge

Posted by on Tue, Sep 18, 2012 at 9:14 AM

WaPo:

Former president Jimmy Carter’s grandson helped leak video of Mitt Romney at a private fundraiser to Mother Jones Magazine, the younger Carter told NBC News and New York Magazine’s Daily Intel blog.
James Carter IV helped connect Mother Jones reporter David Corn with video of Romney at a fundraiser saying, among other things, that it is not his “job” to win over the 47 percent of voters committed to President Obama, because they are “dependent on government” and he will “never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
When you say Obama is as bad as Carter, that's his grandfather you are talking about.

If conservatives whine about "secret videos," just remind them about James O'Keefe, Andrew Breitbart, and ACORN.

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, as Romney would say.

@1 but those videos were edited to make them seem worse than they really were. Granted, we've only heard a few clips and we could find out that at the beginning Mitt was doing an impression of himself as some sort of bizarro roast. But I doubt it. The full videos will only further add context.

Carter ALWAYS had balls.

Carter graduated 59th out of 820 midshipmen from the Naval Academy, served as a submariner on fucking diesel and nuclear subs under god damned Rickover - a first class tough son-of-a-bitch.

He was a mother fucking top-notch bad ass nuclear engineer and oversaw successfully fixing one of the worst nuclear disasters in Navy history at Chalk River Laboratories.

Carter actually went into the boiling partially melted down reactor wearing pathetic 1940's HasMat gear using hand tools. And fixed it. That's right mother fucker! Carter risked his life saving the lives of hundreds maybe thousands of people by walking into a melted down reactor. I bet you didn't know that.

If we'd have listened to Carter in 1977 about energy conservation and independence, Global Warming and our problems in the middle east would not be near as severe.

Also he deregulated the American beer industry allowing us to have micro-brews that we have today.

Carter, my friend told the truth. Carter was THE shit. If he had one flaw it is that he is better than the rest of America and cursed with the knowledge of it.

You WILL respect fucking President Jimmy God Damned Carter.

I, for one, was never naive enough to believe all the anti-Carter stuff. Nor was I foolish enough to believe that Reagan was anything but a lapdog for defense contractors.

It we were smarter as a people (and I think we were, in many ways, smarter in 1980 than we are now) we would have seen Reagan for the fraud he was - and the whole hostage release as the cheap theatrics it was.

That's why I say we shouldn't relax about this election. People will vote for Romney because they are stupid and/or racist - and there's no shortage of those people. Add to the that the blatant election fraud made possible by an indifferent public and a Sociopathic GOP leadership, and one can see where it will be a tight race.

@8 - In 1961, Jimmy Carter walked on the moon--without NASA's help. He just jumped up there and dicked around for a while. He built a house on the far side, just for shits and giggles.

Thanks tkc. I always loved Carter. And remember all the awesome shit he's done since leaving office. He's been a regular badass. If you're not convinced, look up Guinea Worm. Ask Guinea Worm if Carter has any balls.

Romney's campaign just doesn't seem to understand that everything he says, anywhere, to any group larger than 2 people, will be on YouTube the next day. It's a 1980s campaign in 2012.

Carter's term was blasted with the overdue bill notices fromthe oil embargo & Viet Nam. And then there was the Iranian hostage betrayal from the apostate and empty chair, B-movie actor.

It was a ballsy move sending in those helicopters to rescue the hostages.

Just as it was a ballsy move to send in those helicopters and Seals to take out Osama.

One worked the other one didn't.

Pity the Republicans have no such record.

Wow, wow. Hold on here folks, Carter was a hawk (Nicaragua, Iran) and a deregulator (finance, trucking, telecom). He was right about dependence on fossil fuels and he had a decent post-elected office career but let's not get carried away.
