As well he should. Shouldn't be allowed to get pregnant.

Guns don't threaten pregnant ladies, cigarettes threaten pregnant ladies.

Yes, nothing says "I'm concerned enough about the welfare of your unborn child to kill you." Although to be real, this is another example of "woman as vessel" as though pregnant women have no rights. I do not support smoking for anyone, but for all we know the woman may have gone from a pre-pregnancy pack a day to 1 or 2 cigs a day. Not ideal, but cetainly better and more attainable than quitting cold-turkey.

somewhere, another fetus delivery system is drinking a 32 oz soda, or worse, sipping a glass of white wine. they must all be imprisoned during gestation to protect the unborn.

good for him that lady is a fucking bitch; but he's also an idiot who put her child at risk; i would like to know if social services has any power to take pregnant ladies into protective custody if they are harming themselves and their child. I know this is a pandoras box but if it is legally too late for you to get an abortion it should be legally too late for you to enjoy that cigarette burbon meth coke or anything else

The future generation belongs to the Fatherland, does it not? Women's control of their bodies ends when the right of the state the next generation of workers and warriors begins.

My mom smoked incessantly while carrying me, and I'm fine aside from two extra nipples and a mean streak a mile wide.

oh its no irony. pregnant women who drink do drugs or smoke should so time.

obviously it is wrong to pull a gun on anyone.

but if it was me i probably would have called the police even if the only thing that happened was they shamed her and made her think about what she was doing

My mom—as well as the mothers of most of my friends—smoked up a storm while carrying me. We all turned out just dandy, thanks. I'm glad no one shot my mother while she chain-smoked through my and my sister's births.

That said, was the lunatic in the pickup truck arrested? Guns confiscated? What kind of police report is this?

Also, a few years ago, my chain-smoking friend got pregnant. She's a total addict, and so her doctor advised her to just cut back to one or three a day, because the stress of going cold-turkey could be just as harmful to the baby. This was about five years ago. So maybe that lady was on doctor's orders?

I like how so many here are trying to justify her smoking. I suggest, instead, that we insist that it's never ok to threaten someone's life, regardless of whether they could be causing harm to any fetus(es) they may be carrying. It's a slippery slope from "well, maybe her doctor said so" to "well, she had it coming."
