Putin Thanks Romney for Reminding Him That America Is Almost 50% Dumbass

Posted by on Wed, Sep 12, 2012 at 6:32 AM

ABC News says Vladimir Putin has thanked Mitt Romney for calling Russia the United States' #1 geopolitical foe, because it has "strengthened his resolve to oppose NATO’s plan for a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe."

“I’m grateful to him (Romney) for formulating his stance so clearly because he has once again proven the correctness of our approach to missile defense problems,” Putin told reporters, according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

“The most important thing for us is that even if he doesn’t win now, he or a person with similar views may come to power in four years. We must take that into consideration while dealing with security issues for a long perspective,” he said, speaking after a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, according to Interfax news agency.

Between this and his Olympics debacle, Romney is setting international relations back by years, and he's not even president.

*sigh*

Mr. Romney - unfortunately some people actually do take notice of the words that come out of your mouth.

And here I thought the one thing he had going for him was that he wasn't a complete idiot like George Bush.

Rmoney is using an intentional right wing provocations that have inflamed the middle east as an excuse to attack the president. This smacks of desperation and gutter politics at their worst. He's really a low kind of person.

This guy has no idea how to act outside of a wealthy Mormon enclave, or a conference room where he has complete, unimpeachable power.

He would be a disaster as a president.

@1 right wing arch conservatives. Is that the answer you were looking for in order to get validation of your own biases? Or should the answer be businesses? Churches? Let's go with your choice. What makes you feel better about yourself?

@5: the sad thing is, he was pretty much okay as governor of MA. He governed like, well, pretty much exactly the sort of old-school Rockefeller Republican that he presumably is in person: largely focussed on technocratic reform initiatives and not making a habit of picking fights with the legislature over social issues. I still disagreed with him bitterly on any number of issues (tax policy, obviously, first and foremost), but it wouldn't have been a disaster to have that Romney as president.

But desperation and the need to appeal to the national GOP's neanderthal base have made him into a fool.

@1,7,

You exemplify the dangerousness of the conservative's bloodthirsty, warmongering, obsolete party.

You want to know "who is our #1 foe?" but you don't question that we even have a "#1 foe." Why do we have to have an arch-nemesis? For what purpose? So the military can have justification for existing at it's current bloated level? So the conservatives can beat the war drums at every opportunity? So they can drive fear into everyone?

I'd say we don't have a #1 foe, whatever that even means. And if we do, we certainly don't want to broadcast it to the planet, as that man-child Romney wants to do.

that's a fair answer.

thank you.

however it might be a bit naive.....

we are curious because Obama and Slog enjoy yucking it up about Romney's statement but that begs the question of who THEY think our #1 foe is...

@1 As the remaining superpower in the world, with a military expenditure as great as the rest of the world combined and enough nukes to ensure that if all else fails no one else can have a resounding victory, the greatest threat to us is ourselves.

The US' #1 geopolitical foe is obviously China, but only a complete idiot antagonizes and empowers his arch-nemesis by publicly naming it and telling everyone else how scared we should be. I don't know who the Romney was who turned his father's wealth into even more wealth, or who supposedly "turned around" the SLC Olympics, but this bumbling fool running for president is a complete disaster.

Notice that #1, #7, and #12 aren't actually answering the question themselves. That's most likely because they haven't got a clue and don't actually care anyway. If they were here for anything other than mere trolling, they would actually suggest an answer and invite honest discussion. As it is, they're just trying to bait people into paying them attention.
