And once again, Republican campaign strategists around the country emit an audible groan.

Right, it's the result of perceived American weakness. Not, say, a video insulting their most revered figure in history. We know this because we were never attacked back when we were strong, like when Bush was in office and Rumsfeld was secretary of Defense. Back then we were strong and nobody considered attacking us.

that makes zero sense. the attacks were provoked by the fodder a dumbass right wing monotheist preacher gave to other dumbass right wing monotheist preachers.

I saw a list earlier about all the attacks on US diplomatic missions during the Bush years.

Pretty much the only thing worse than is if Bush came out of his exile to say the same thing.

Aren't these guys called "blame America firsters" or something like that? I remember that being thrown around a few years ago.

Thank you, Donald "Kill 'em, let god sort 'em out" Rumsfield. You conducted our last few wars so successfully, this interjection is sure to be well received.

@7: Pix from a public rally in Benghazi today condemning the attack: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=…

I love the fact that half of these folks are holding the same English sign (badly-spelled and written in a school notebook) just to make sure we see their faces and get the message.

@3 The video only used the idiot preacher's rants. It was NOT created by him.

Who made the video that sparked the violence? That's an interesting question, and there seems to be nothing but obfuscation, dodging, and outright lies.

http://www.vosizneias.com/113490/2012/09…

The only thing that seems clear is that it was created for just such a reaction.

Taking foreign policy advice from Rumsfeld is like taking dating advice from Pat Robertson.

So, then, you just straight-up punch Arnold Schwarzenegger in the face every time you see him, right, Rummy? Because he used to be strong and now he is older and weaker? Or for that matter, did you start abusing your parents when they got old? They were once stronger than you, and they did get weaker.

It's bullies who get hit when they look weak, you old asshole, and if you hadn't been one your entire life, you'd recognize that. People only start to search for hints of weakness when you've gone out of your way to abuse your strength. And I guess given what we know lies on your conscience, it's not too surprising you'd think this way.

So was the attack on 9/11/2001 a result of perceived American weakness under a Republican administration?
Posted by Patricia Kayden on September 13, 2012 at 3:33 AM
23
@22 Yeah, that's where I was gonna go with that.

Also -- how much weaker does the perceived administration have to be in order for the attack to be on American soil, in multiple locations including our capitol and our biggest and most important city, compared to an overseas embassy?
