Obama, Obama, Obama: The President accepted his party's nomination for a second term, but admitted that the path to recovery would not be "quick and easy."

“You didn’t elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades.”

Biden, Biden Biden: Also accepts the nomination for a second term, calls Obama the defender of the "average American."

Who spoke it better? Scarlett, Sandra or Eva?

Classic Palin: "How does he [Kerry] even know my name?

Steve Jobs over Google: Says Obama.

96,000: That's how many jobs the U.S. added in August, lowering the unemployment rate to 8.1% from 8.3%. This is well below expectations, and bad news for the Obama campaign right after yesterday's speech.

Guess who's coming to dinner?: Bear, elk and deer. Hide the candy.

Don't forget the gray wolves: Washington state authorities plan to kill four of these predators in Stevens County.

Amazon updates Kindle: Again.

And, Pussy Riot is back: Thanks Madonna, burns an effigy of Putin.

Scarlett's message to try to wake up complacent 18-24 year olds who don't vote was really important. Of the three messages, I'm hoping hers had the most impact. That's a huge pool of potential voters, and we need them.

I sympathize with the girls of Pussy Riot. However, freedom and democracy have never worked very well in Russia in the past. That country seems to need a tyrant.

"lowering the unemployment rate to 8.1% from 8.3%. This is well below expectations"

I never get this. Who's expectations? I had no expectations, and am delighted and surprised.

I wonder how easily it is to be one of those whose expectations are counted, and what their political leanings are.

darling.

the 96,000 jobs did not 'lower' the unemployment rate.

the 300,000 people who dropped out of the labor force did.

It is comforting to see that Sarah Palin is still as astoundingly stupid as ever.

As always, she sees herself as a victim somehow.

Hey, Riya, when you post links to the NYTimes paywalled site, please let us know. Some of us are not paid subscribers and have only ten articles a month to read that we would like to choose ourselves. (Sigh) ~N.O.
