Mother Jones Rounds Up The Five Most Comically Bad Anti-Gay Ads

Posted by on Wed, Sep 5, 2012 at 1:25 PM

THE FAIL: The ominous jars of animal crackers, the old-timey "I just lost my job in a Lucille Ball comedy" music, the furrowed brows, the mysteriously awkward sentence cadences, and the completely false premise that these people actually voted for President Obama in 2008.

Added fail: the husband's body language & startled expression screams, "I wonder if my wife knows how many men I've sucked off since I discovered Craigslist."

Go to Mother Jones for the rest.

"That's Not the Change I Voted For...."

Because, you know, Obama opposed homosexual "marriage" in 2008.

They also seem like the five most prominent. Are they just picking out well-publicized ones instead of truly awful ones?

Oh, wait! I forgot. They are all by their very nature truly awful (as well as vapid, fearmongering, and credulous). You can pick out any ad to this effect and it will fit the bill. Nevermind~

This is clear evidence that the bigots have lost...they're not even trying anymore.

I don't remember from my first viewing of "New Morning" the guy's last line sounding like it was redone by someone else. Someone who was standing in a tunnel.

I got the same vibe from the husband's body language & delayed response.

The music is what gets me, music that screams "this is an ad! this interaction is sooo fake!" Sad piano...

The husband is walking on eggshells, because he knows that the slightest slip of the tongue will cause her to have a psychotic episode.

She sort of reminds me of Mink Stole's character in "Desperate Living"

It was nice of them to leave rating enabled on that video. Even Chuck Norris didn't have the guts for that. 151 likes, 14,314 dislikes.

The self-centeredness of these idiots ("I'm being oppressed when complete strangers aren't required to seek my approval!") just pisses me off too much to even laugh at their idiocy.

@12 Thank you, but too bad that clip ended right before the best answer to a telemarketer EVER!

You know it's a loving, successful marriage when he greets her with the same tone of voice and rhetorical questions one usually uses for a work acquaintance.

239 likes, 23,172 dislikes on YouTube for the video as of now. I was thinking of giving it a sympathy "like", but then I realized that Google would just use that to target me with more pro-Romney bullshit.

She may be creepy, her husband may be hiding something, but one thing's for sure: her sons have terrible haircuts.

"That's not the change *I* voted for."

"Uhhh, yeah, me neither"

Directly caused a mini-giggle fit.
