Looking of Mr. Eastwood's bio, it makes just as much sense that the GOP, the party of traditional family values honored him with a speaking slot tonight as Newt & Callista Gingrich.

Clint Eastwood found a way to tell Mitt Romney to go fuck himself on national television at the RNC Convention - and all anyone else saw was a doddering old man. Brilliant, Clint!!

Yeah, that was when he had about 18 women (and children with 7 of them).

I knew he had Republican leanings - ever since he ran for mayor of Carmel. And a lot of rich, old Hollywood is Republican despite what you see and hear. But after his Super Bowl commercial, I was really surprised to see him at the convention. The best thing you can say about his appearance is that he was mellow - didn't do a loony Pat Buchanan thing for the Teabaggers.

I certainly wouldn't want to end my days - and jeopardize my reputation and film-making gravitas - with a guest appearance supporting Mitt Romney.

I thought Clint's speech was funny and warm. If we lefties can't take a few Leno-level jokes at our (or Obama's) expense then we are truly pussies/scrota.

Besides, if you listen to what he's saying there's some subtle fuck-you's to Mitt and the far-right in there as well as a reminders that we are all Americans and have more in common than our differences.

Obama's not off limits in my book. Is it not wrong to ding him for doubling down on Afghanistan? Is it not funny to ding loony Oprah?

If I had to critique one thing it would be his insistance on calling him "Mr. Obama". Kind of tacky.

Clint was one of the coolest actors of the 70's and 80's matured into one of the best American directors.

I don't think he's racist, or a tea-bagger, a zealot or classist. I doubt he's socially conservative, anti-homo/queer being a long-time Hollywood man.

He's from a time where being conservative didn't mean being mean-spirited, crazy, and anti-intelligence/anti-science.

I guess I don't see any reason to age-bash him. Clint's never been eloquent in interviews so tripping over words isn't anything new.

If anybody should be pissed it should be Bob Newhart since Clint stole his one-sided telephone act, stammering and all.

OK, OK, I'm a long-time Clint fan-boy and am sticking up for him. Leave my grandpa alone!
