‘Whac-A-Hipster’ at Bumbershoot with Toyota’s Prius Family Playground

Seattle – August 29, 2012 – Ever felt the urge to ‘Whac-A-Hipster’? This weekend at Bumbershoot the Toyota Prius Family Playground will offer folks a chance to live out their hipster-whacking fantasies. Whether hoping to escape the heat, looking for an off-the-wall challenge, or searching for a place to re-charge your phones, there’s a little something for everyone at the Prius Family Playground.

Check out the game that’s taking the nation by storm, the Prius v Whac-A-Hipster. Take a spin on the Human-Powered Prize Wheel, a giant hamster wheel that makes you work for a prize, or challenge your friends with the Prius Family Challenge. Too much tweeting, texting and instagramming for your cell phone to handle? Hop in the Prius Plug-In and Charge Up Station where up to five people can charge their phones for five minutes. After working up a sweat, cool down with a complimentary Prius-shaped popsicle and cooling Bumbershoot bandana. And for those festival-goers in the market for a new ride, a few of the latest vehicles in the Toyota Prius Family lineup will be on display as well.

Corporate America feels your hipster-induced pain, Can't-Fit-In-Skinny-Jeans America.

I dunno, I fit in skinny jeans but hipsters are still comedy gold. If the corporations selling to hipsters battle the corporations selling to those who mock hipsters, everybody wins.

Aren't hipsters the kind of people who would drive a Prius?

the people your describing aren't hipsters anymore. Mars hill church kids look like that now; it's good to make fun of those people. Whats sad is the hipsters circa 1999 who couldnt resist the "cutting edge" sleeve tattoo look. Kinda like having a pair of first-wave wraparound glasses surgically adhered to your scalp.

Ahahaha, it is now possible to be hipster about hating hipsters. Man. It's nice that people have so much extra time and energy that they can devote it to sectioning up and selectively hating society based on fashion and pop culture preferences.

@1, you sound fat.

@3, come on, man, drop some n-bombs and show the world what you're really thinking. It's not like you're hiding it very well as is. If you're gonna be a racist piece of shit you might as well just own it.

I'm confused - are they saying all hipsters look like Gene Shalit?

As if "hipster" actually meant anything. This is embarrassing for everyone involved.

You realize that 90% of the people who bash hipsterism ARE hipsters. It's a like quantum state that is only outward facing.

Overdone hipsters are obnoxious the same way that overdoing anything is obnoxious. The "nerd" who wears nothing but anime and video game paraphernalia: obnoxious. The emo/goth who wears spiky jewelry and morose face makeup: obnoxious. The hipster who goes all out with the suspenders/ironic mustache/skinny jeans/stupid hat: obnoxious.

That said, ripping on anyone who wears a flannel shirt or thick-framed glasses is just as idiotic as ripping on anyone for simply playing video games or for ever listening to metal music. It's pretty normal not to devote all your mental energy to boycotting "all things [hipster/nerd/goth/hillbilly/etc]

Hell, even the "overdone" people mentioned above are usually insufferable on their own, and their overdone fashion is a symptom rather than the reason.

Corporate America is too busy laughing their way to the bank after selling hipsters those skinny jeans at marked up prices.

I thought hipsters moved on to high-water pants hanging above loafers and no socks.

Someone has to fit into skinny jeans. Why bother making them if no one's buying?

Also I agree with 18. What is a hipster? Someone who likes obscure music? Someone who wears silly hats? Someone who has money? Someone who has no money? Please tell me.
