Jesus Cancels First Day of Republican Convention

Posted by on Sat, Aug 25, 2012 at 8:11 PM

New York Times:

TAMPA, Fla. — Republicans on Saturday canceled the opening day of their national convention, saying their first concern was for the safety of delegates and guests in the face of Tropical Storm Isaac, which is strengthening and is headed toward Florida’s West Coast...The opening day was to have been called “We Can Do Better,” featuring speakers who would address what they considered to be the failures of Mr. Obama’s administration. Planners had said “real people who have been affected by the Obama economy” were scheduled to speak.

I'm supposed to arrive in Tampa tomorrow night, but based on the most recent reports, I'm thinking I might be stuck in layover purgatory for at least a day or so. Does anybody need anything from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport? I'm about to get to know it pretty well.

A little heads up, I'm exiting Slog for awhile. This RNC debacle of inanity isn't worth my time. I truly am above it. See ya in September.

Obama Legacy to Neil Armstrong:

Obama to End NASA Constellation Program

In his new budget, President Obama plans to eliminate the space program's manned moon missions.

When the president releases his budget on Monday, a White House official confirmed on Thursday, there will be a big hole where funding for NASA's Constellation program used to be. Constellation is the umbrella program that includes the Ares rocket -- the replacement for the aging space shuttles.

Yeah Paul... Can you pick up a bomb for me while you're there? Just tell the gate security that someone asked you to carry a package for them and you're pretty sure it contains a bomb.

*hilarity ensues*

Isaac a dud
We're very happy to say that Tropical Storm Isaac was, for us at least, a dud.

We did a lot of work to prepare, to tie things down, to be ready, and...nothing. Well, not really nothing. We got about half-an-inch of rain and 35-40 knot winds but that's it. And honestly, we're grateful.…

Then if the RNC starts Tuesday, they'll be competing with hurricane stories for news coverage.

"...the Obama economy" ?? Do they mean the Republican obstructionist's economy?

What a bunch of assholes - they must think we're all really, really stupid.

@8, yo dipshit, you know Constellation was slated for discontinuation under the Bush administration, right? Is there a reason you're posting four year old news? I mean, shit, even Fox was on to that two and a half years ago, which you might have noticed on the article you posted. Except you didn't, because you're a fountain of liquefied bullshit.

While it would be incorrect to conclude that all republicans are as stupid as always-wrong Bailo, his constant droolingly stupid posts here on Slog make quite a convincing case.

Couple that with the stunningly dumb things their party continually does and one really wonders.

Well done, Bailo, well done. You are the local idiot face of the republicans. The more you post (and you infest every goddamn thread here) the stupider your party looks.

Is it possible Bailo is a secret liberal plant, with the secret mission of making all conservatives look stupid? If so, it is working quite well. Good job, Bailo. Good job.

My closest brush with Dallas was a two-hour layover in that airport — though it seemed longer because I was dealing with this earworm the whole time.

I may have to follow @4's lead, though for a different reason: I had a dream last night that was set in the offices of The Stranger. Dreamland Paul was remarkably attractive, but since the place looked pretty tidy that may not mean much.

Only Ron Paul can save them. If he'd been the nominee he would have bitch slapped that hurricane into next week. Or he would have poked it in the eye, grabbed it by the tale and slung it at the Democratic convention.

On another note, anybody remember when the Republicans were praying that god would rain out that Obama speech? Remember how they said that would prove god hates Obama? Hmmm, kinda makes you think?
