Rand Paul Thinks Obama Is Arming Weathermen to Take Away Your Freedom

Posted by on Thu, Aug 16, 2012 at 4:13 PM

Jesus fucking Christ. This man is a US senator and he tweets this kind of shit:

So, in Rand Paul's mind, the National Weather Service has ordered 46,000 hollow-point bullets. He then refers readers to a fringe conspiracy-theory website, which argues that President Obama may be arming weathermen as part of a larger scheme to suppress "civil unrest."

Rand Paul sees this as a legitimate concern, and he wants his Twitter followers to be aware of it.

Regrettably, the senator neglected to check the facts before sharing this unhinged nonsense. In reality, ammunition and targets were ordered for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement. There was a clerical error on the paperwork — the ammunition isn't going to the National Weather Service.

Rand Paul is getting it from all sides. The Ron Paul fanatics at the Daily Paul are very upset about the news that Rand endorsed Paul Ryan:

No offense to the Paul family,
But I'm really getting tired of watching an establishment ass-kisser.

I feel like Rand just gave me a piano to carry.
Okay now. shouldn't the delegates have a chance to nominate their choice for VP? I'd say we hit them with Ron Paul vs. Paul Ryan! That's if Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination for prez. of course.

Is it even possible for Rand to be any more of a tool? I hope the big boys in the GOP gave him a cookie, a pat on the back, and said that one day this corrupt fascist machine would be his.

I Don't Care What Rand Says Anymore...Ok?
For me his endorsement of Romney speaks volumns...

Ron Paul is a Republican and does not compromise! Ron Paul shows the example ...not like his wimpy son!

I knew Rand was a sell out! POS!
Ron Paul all the way! FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like rand is tossing salad and giving blowjobs to me. Rand lying to himself .How Sad!

all Gary Johnson people
no one here will vote
for gay long john OK!
if Paul is not on the ticket I will still wright his name
even if I have to scribe it on the GLASS Screen of the computer
any questions !!

In other developments, it seems that 'Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan' is an anagram of 'My ultimate Ayn Rand porn'.

Wait, arming "weathermen," as in meteorologists? How would THAT work?

Sounds about par for the course for Obama, who is, after all, one of the founding members of the Weather Underground! Just ask his former lover, Bill Ayers! PALIN IN 2016

Ron Paul fans are so naive. His officially declared party if the GOP. So is his son's. Everybody who wears that label has to pay a price for it. he can push just a little bit, but if he goes too far, he loses

1) campaign financing
2) endorsements from GOP leaders and affiliated groups
3) not having to run against a Republican with full party backing for a seat in an extremely Republican district
4) media coverage
5) marketing expertise from some of the most effective image crafters in the country.

Rand has the same problem. He's on a short leash and can only go so far.

If you want to vote Third Party, then vote for a real Third Party. Don't fool yourself into thinking that the Tea Party is anything other than just another faction in the GOP.

Well, I mean, it's not like the President has any other armed force at his disposal, so it makes sense that he'd try to weaponize weather forecasters. He's probably already got them working on that Weather Dominator from GI Joe.

He's already commander-in-chief of the most powerful military in the world, and they already have bullets. The man does not need weathermen if he wants to throw his weight around.

Where is Danny's outrage?....

AP- "An FBI affidavit in the investigation of a shooting Wednesday at the downtown Washington, D.C., offices of the Family Research Council says the accused gunman uttered a statement to the effect of, "I don't like your politics," before reaching into a backpack for a handgun and opening fire.
Homosexual activist Floyd Lee Corkins II, of Herndon, Va., 28, is charged with assault with intent to kill.

"Corkins said he was "given a license" by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center, which labeled the Family Research Council as a hate group.

"The Southern Poverty Law Center declined an interview request from the program.

"Corkins had volunteered recently at a community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

"The accused gunman's parents told the FBI that their son held "strong opinions with respect to those who do not treat homosexuals in a preferential manner," the affidvit said.

"Corkins had been volunteering for roughly six months at The DC Center for the LGBT Community, according to David Mariner, executive director of the northwest Washington community center. Corkins usually staffed the center's front desk on Saturdays, and his most recent shift was about two weeks ago."

To be fair to Randy Paul, he probably does not "think" that Obama is arming weathermen to take away your freedom, but he's more than willing to STATE such inflammatory fabrications for some imagined political advantage. All that makes him is Republican.

@20: Here's my outrage, cuntpasted from the thread about the rightly penalized creep:
You can't expect people to care about what you're saying when you're LYING THROUGH YOUR TEETH.
Here is the ACTUAL source for your "quote". No, the Associated Press did not publish that story; it's actually from Fox News. No, Corkins was not described as a "homosexual activist'; you fabricated that phrase yourself. No, the "given a license" bit about the SPLC was not uttered by Corkins, but rather by Tony Perkins.
You also replaced "fair" with "preferential" with regard to the treatment of homosexuals in Corkins's opinion, and omitted large portions of the story without replacing them with ellipses, despite your punctuation denoting a direct quote.
If you want to argue a point based on facts, that's fine. While we may not agree with your views, I will treat you with respect if you base your stances on fact. However, when you attempt to alter the facts to fit your perverse worldview, you lose not only my respect, but any hope of credibility. Nobody plays poker with a man who cheats at craps.

@20, Regardless of how much of that story you, or Fox, invented I agree that we shouldn't let crazy motherfuckers have guns. Doesn't matter their politics. We need to have a way to keep guns out of the hands of crazy motherfuckers.

Back on topic...
The idea of arming weather forecasters is so outrageously stupid it's hard for me to believe that even teabaggers conspiracy theorists believe it. Even on the scale of birthers or truthers this is really really idiotic. Obama is Commander in Chief of the most powerful military in the world and he's going to arm Al Roker? WTF?

That Rand Paul repeated this idiotic claim is only slightly less surprising. As some others have noted, I don't think Paul actually believes it, I really don't think he's that dumb. He clearly believes some of his moron followers will believe it though because they will believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Fucking idiots every one of them.

On another note... I find it so amusing that Ron Paul fans still think he has a chance at the presidency.

The question is "Why is there an armed branch of the NOAA?"

We have far to many armed federal law enforcement agency's.

But to be fair 42,000 rounds is not a lot. My wife and I go through about 8000 a year and we don't practice nearly as much as we should

@26: if 27 didn't make it obvious, there's a certain element of the tinfoil-hat crowd that doesn't like the idea of an (occasionally and specifically) armed agency reporting to an Executive Branch other than DoD. ( The conspiracy nuts have always been bothered by the existence of the NOAA Corps and the Public Health Service, never mind the US Coast Guard.)

@28

I like the NOAA, and the PHS, I just cant understand why they need have an armed Law enforcement branch when we have the FBI, US Marshals, BTAFE, NSA, DEA, Secret Service, National Institute of Standards and Technology Police (NIST Police), U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations (USFSLEI), Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General... and about 50 other agency.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_law…

Personally I think it is just a tad excessive, though I have considered joining the Coast Guard.

@29 (just in case you or anyone else reads their archive occasionally): It's the nature of the Federal government; many agencies have specific responsibilities that don't transfer well to other agencies. NOAA is made up of several of these that were rolled into one around 1970: the Coast and Geodetic Survey (which is why they're a uniformed service - there was originally concern about them being in war zones without official US uniform, which ran the risk of being shot as spies), the Bureau of Fisheries, and the National Weather Service. The armed officers in question are basically game wardens, but their job doesn't fall under any of the other examples you cite (except US Fish & Wildlife, which has never had the capacity for patrol and enforcement in the deep sea.)
