Two Things About Paul Ryan (One of Them Involves Hitler)

Posted by on Wed, Aug 15, 2012 at 11:13 AM

1. The same asshole who wrote Sarah Palin's assholish Republican Convention speech in 2008 is apparently writing Paul Ryan's speech for the Republican Convention this year, too.

2. This teabagger-made video imagines Hitler as President Obama's campaign manager. Hitler is simply overwhelmed when he hears that Paul Ryan is Romney's vice presidential pick and basically concedes the campaign then and there. This is how the other side lives, folks:

I thought that the owners of that film had stopped the parodies. Let's see if they take this one down, too.

You know what I wonder? I wonder why they think the use of a teleprompter is such a stinging indictment of Obama. Or is it just a joke that they never tire of saying?

No retreat. Now is the time to attack Rmoney's credibility and come right out that he's a professional con man. And Ryan lies for a carrer. Liars and con men. That's what they are so tell the world. And never apologize-never!

I've seen several versions of this video with different subtitles but this one is the best. It's wrong in that Obama's folks were very happy about Ryan as the VP, but this video is pretty darn good regardless.

The Hitler parody thing was old 3 years ago. Though I can see how the Teabaggers are just now grabbing onto it.

Because nothing says "rational adult" like portraying someone who disagrees with you as Hitler or working with Hitler.

Particularly when the subject is a black man.

This is a worse "hitler reacts" than even the "hitler reacts to new burning man ticket system"

@2 - Mitt Romney has literally read from a teleprompter at every speech. After yesterday's speech, he is being described as 'unhinged' after reading his prepared remarks. The point? Republicans are as bad at comedy as they're bad at literally everything else.

I feel pretty sure that this was the exact opposite of the Obama campaign's reaction.

Teabaggers think Paul Ryan is the smartest guy in the room. I don't think this is as much a credit to Ryan's intelligence as it is an indictment of the utter stupidity of the teabaggers.

I'm confused by descriptions of Paul Ryan repeatedly including "good looks." I wouldn't otherwise feel compelled to mention this, but am I the only one looking at Tony Shalhoub's character in Men in Black stuffed into a larger man's suit?

I like how they're not afraid to use Hitler, but including the word "fucking" would be offensive.

Remember how Santorum prided himself for never using a teleprompter, and then went off-script and said a bunch of dumb shit and made an ass of himself, on an almost-daily basis for like a month or two? Man, those were good days.

@14

The problem isn't scripts, it's teleprompters. Really, it's not too much to ask that our politicians memorize their speeches. What about Obama? Let's talk about his record of memorizing speeches. Has he? Why not? We deserve better, America.

If they can't recite their speeches from memory, they should use index cards. Lincoln used cards for his speeches instead of a teleprompter, after all. What's the deal, Obama? Where are your notecards? Do you think you're better than Lincoln?

@15 You think if he was reading from index cards, the Repugnicants wouldn't be complaining about that? Dream on, son.

I saw this video a few months back with a completely different setup and parodying the 'right' side. They don't mind stealing more than money, do they? I wish I could remember what its context was in that video.

Oh, the irony. Mind you, the teapartiers are proud to admit knowing so little world history ... that the ludicrous concept of Hitler being on the side of a black man flies over their heads.

The parody worked when it seemed H. supported the Repubs, but is repugnant to watch even once.

2008 called. It wants its meme back.

And about Paul Ryan being young and handsome... says who? Even when the man tries to smile, the corners of his mouth still turn down. I haven't seen a genuine smile out of the man.

@15,

Obama has given a number of key speeches from memory. Remember his speech on race after the Reverend Wright dust up? It was all given from memory, and it was amazing. Republicans attack him on this because speech making is one of his strengths, and Republicans love attacking Democrats on their strengths. They also love projection. McCain came off as a doddering old grampa without a teleprompter, and that moron Bush couldn't live without one. Remember his earpiece during the debates in 2004? Republicans hate people who are better and smarter than they are.

Americans have the memories of gnats.

16, 20, I'm pretty sure that 15 was being ironic. Possibly sarcastic; I never recall the technical difference.

Isn't parody covered under 'fair use'? Meaning, the owners of the film can't shut it down legally, and the Rs aren't actually stealing this if it's parody. Surely, someone here knows more about copyright law than I.
