There will be no fall Friends of the Library Book Sale this year:

We're sorry to announce that the big Fall Book Sale usually held in September will not be held this year.

The hangar and Building 30 at Magnuson Park, where we prepare for and hold the sales, will be undergoing a major renovation starting October 1, 2012. The work on that facility will last as much as nine months, and we will have no use of the building during that time.

Between now and October 1, we have much work to do to prepare to vacate our offices, sorting and boxing rooms, and storage areas. The need to vacate Building 30 makes it very difficult for us to stage the Fall sale this year. We sincerely regret the disappointment and any inconvenience this may cause our many longtime customers, volunteers and fellow book-lovers.

This is a huge bummer. I've always been a fan of the Friends of the Library Book Sale. If you're on a tight budget, you can go and buy a whole season's worth of books—an entire bookshelf's worth—for less than twenty bucks. Let's hope they get up and running again soon; I'll let you know when the next book sale happens.
