Today in Mitt Romney's Flip-Flops

Posted by on Thu, Aug 2, 2012 at 12:53 PM

Slow day for Willard! Only two flip-flops:

Flip-flop #1: Mitt Romney just hired a Fannie Mae lobbyist to "lead a vigorous effort to defend his career in the private sector." But earlier this year, Romney consistently attacked Newt Gingrich as a lobbyist for Freddie Mac during the presidential primaries.

Flip-flop #2 comes from Talking Points Memo: The Romney campaign is assaulting a report from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center saying that Romney's economic plans will raise taxes for 95% of the population. They're calling the Center a "liberal," biased organization. But back during the primaries, the Romney campaign praised the Tax Policy Center as an "objective, third party" source when they were busy reporting on how Rick Perry's plans would increase taxes.

Speaking of flip-flops…

President Obama, July 30, 2012:
The Obama administration said in guidance from the Labor Department that federal contractors don’t need to warn their employees that they could lose their jobs because of the looming budget cuts that are slated to begin Jan. 2. The agency said it would be “inappropriate” for employers to send such warnings.

In other words, disregard the WARN Act.

Senator Obama, July 17, 2007:
“The least employers can do when they’re anticipating layoffs is to let workers know they’re going to be out of a job and a paycheck with enough time to plan for their future.”

“For too long, employers have failed to notify workers that they’re about to lose their jobs due to mass layoffs or plant closings even though notice is required by the WARN Act.”

“We must act at the federal level to close the loophole that allows employers to disregard the WARN Act without penalty. We must give the WARN Act teeth, to ensure that workers are not left in the lurch without a job or a paycheck.”

It's so strange that he can manage to flip flop so much without having anything to run on beyond "I'm not Obama".

The man has said nothing of substance, anywhere, ever...and yet he's still seems like a fish on dry land with all the flippin' and floppin' going on.

@3: You again? Obama has basically said the ball is in Republicans' court on the budget cuts. Pretty standard political brinksmanship - there's a clear deal on the table, so where are your buddies? If the budget cuts do happen, suddenly your side of the aisle looks like a bunch of job-hating hand-wringers. Imagine someone painting a whole political party with that brush! Unheard of!

Meanwhile, you seemed unable to address Mitt's changing tune without changing the subject yourself. So are you saying all flip-flops are fine? Or do you just not have an argument to stand on?

(Stage whisper: GUESS WHICH ONE I THINK IS TRUE!)

"President Obama, July 30, 2012"

I totally believe that you are an informed voter with regards to the WARN Act and most definitely not just reposting stuff from right-wing sites.

No I don't.
But the funny part is that you think that is interesting enough to troll with.
Obama's done a lot worse.
And if you were really an informed voter you would know that.

I agree that he has done a lot worse...
Personally I'm shocked that the Left seems to have little or no problem with his drone assassination campaign. But who can figure?

I think that, Fast & Furious and the damaging security leaks out of his Whitehouse are the jewels in his crown.

If he survives re-election (and if the Senate and the House land in Republican hands) I expect the last two of those to provide enough dirt to at least impeach him during his second term.

And we’re only just starting to learn about Obama’s violations of the Presidential Records Act, which of course, would be felonies… Hopefully Waxman will be able to get to the bottom of that before Obama puts him in the box that he keep Feinstein in.

@7: and what would you have "the left" do? vote for plutocracy & teatardation?

& yeah, please impeach Obama ASAP after the election over drone assassinations & F&F. throw him in that bre'er patch.

@8: Are you referring to the Romney campaign's allegations that Jim Messina, a member of the Obama administration, didn't file official correspondence properly? (Messina says he did, by the way.)
Or are you just making shit up again?

I would have “the left” hold him to a higher standard and insist that he conform to the ethics he ran on (remember “hope”, “change”, “transparency” and “a new way of doing things”) instead of turning a blind eye and propping up a cult of personality around him.

I would have "the left" call him on his shit.

@9,

As much as the insane, idiotic troll occasionally tries to front like a reasonable person, it is a birther, prone to regurgitating the most inane conspiracy theories about President Obama. You are seriously wasting your breath arguing with it as though it has more than two brain cells to rub together.

Its pathetic attempt to get the left to hold Obama to "account" for breaking his campaign promises (i.e. to vote for Romney instead) is AstroTurf, plain and simple.

Note that it doesn't give a fuck about Romney's lies.

I’m referring to the House Energy and Commerce Committee report issued two days ago that details how members of the Obama White House used personal email accounts to conduct official business with representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and conducted meetings outside of the White House so that the meetings would not be recorded in official visitor logs. Obama’s campaign manager Jim Messina (former deputy chief of staff) is named in that report.

Please ignore the cunt @12. She's deranged and more than slightly obsessed with me. I’d be bemused by her attention if she weren’t so psychotic.

"Please ignore the cunt"

Now you have to ask yourself what kind of person has so few positive things happening in his life that he has to come here to troll.

No girlfriend?
No friends at all?
Just you, a computer and an Internet connection.
And this is what you do with your life.

@ Mr "Gotta be kidding"- there's an excellent article that thoroughly debunks your naive belief that Obama personally orchestrated 'Operation Fast and Furious'. The truth is, a small group of agents that hated working with each other allowed their grudges to screw the operation. They were merely observing, they never bought the guns, they never touched the guns. One agent falsely framed another, then webt above his supervisor to rat the first agent out.

I repeat, they never bought or handled the guns, at that point in the operation they were strictly observing.

Those are the facts, mr "Gotta be kidding". You can now take your wingnut opinions and go fuck yourself.

Then why the need for Executive Privilage. Only Obama can prove what your saying is true by cooperating with the hearings and dropping his claim of Executive Privilage. He must be hiding something...

Actually @12 is the lonely soul locked away in a double wide with 40 cats and no friends living on a diet of Freto's and Mr. Pibb. I have this on very good authority, someone who used to sell her Fancey Feast by the case, but he insists on anomiinimity so I can't reveal my source. But, you'll notice, @12 refuses to prove he's wrong, so it must be true.

"He must be hiding something... "

You keep trying to troll with subjects that you do not understand.

No girlfriend?
No friends at all?
Just you, a computer and an Internet connection.
And this is what you do with your life.

Obama may be protecting some person(s) or organization rather than hiding something.

While Romney is hiding something in his tax filings.

You see, that makes you a hypocrite.
