Former Washington State senator Cheryl Pflug, a Republican, stars in a commercial that debuts around the state tonight:

The Republican's argument for marriage equality?

"Freedom!" Pflug announces.

It's sponsored by the Pride Foundation's nonprofit arm, meaning it can't take a stand on any ballot measure, but the commercial is clearly timed to bolster support for approving gay-marriage-legalizing Referendum 74. More info is here.

Josh Friedes, the marriage equality director of Equal Rights Washington, says that "the spot is beautiful but we must remember that no television advertisement is going result in the passage of Referendum 74 or dramatically increase support for marriage equality. We must use the spots as an opportunity to engage our networks in conversations about why marriage matters to us personally."
