As a huge admirer, this makes me very sad. My sympathies to her girlfriend and other family members.

You go, girl. Back to the stars from which you came. Have a heavenly ride, my sister!

I should have known (but didn't) that Sally was family. Deepest condolences to all.

RIP. Great woman. A national hero. They expose themselves to so much danger in space. Including massive radiation.

I'm sad to hear of her death.

On top of being the first American woman in space, she'd be the first openly LGBT person in space as well, correct?

Goddamn I hate pancreatic cancer—I have lost too many people I cared about. Fuck it forever with a rusty pitchfork.

Keep on keepin' on, shining overprivileged youth—you'll find the answer one fine day.

I am glad that she died "peacefully"; that speaks to competent pain management.
