What Kind of Woman Would Agree to Sleep With Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson at the Same Time?

Posted by on Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM

From Rene Rodriguez's review of Savages in the Miami Times:

Those early scenes also introduce one of Savages’ most unlikely conceits: The lovely, bird-brained Ophelia (Blake Lively), who prefers to go by “O” and lives in carnal communion with the two guys, letting them take turns with her in the sack, and sometimes just sharing her bed with both of them at the same time. Even for an Oliver Stone movie, the scenario is an awful lot to swallow: What kind of woman would ever agree to this, and what two heterosexual men, no matter how close, would be comfortable with this arrangement? But you go with it, at least initially, because the entire plot hinges on their harmonious three-way union, a bromance with a woman thrown in for sexual release.

I had a harmonious three-way union in Miami once. And while poly relationships—particularly those involving two men and a woman—are by no means standard, Rene, they're not exactly unheard of.

As for what kind of woman would want to sleep with Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch—gee, I don't know. Maybe the awake kind? (Fully conscious lesbians excluded, of course.)

One among many reasons I can't wait to see this one! Ebert called it "a return to form for Stone's dark side". About damn time. I've loved to hate that man for years.

She should put "double penetration" in her search engine. Eyes wide open.

The real question is why this successful genius pot dealer millionaire and Tim Riggins are madly in love with Blake Lively's boring ass character. Well that and the fact that nothing in this movie makes any goddamn sense.

I saw a special on them (Ma and her partners) years ago. Glad to see they're still together.

And even if the guys didn't look like that, I'd welcome another man in the house/bed. Spouse wouldn't like it, but maybe he'll come around...

Fully conscious lesbians might want to sleep with Aaron Johnson, if the lighting was just so.

Maybe it would it be easier for her to watch this film if one of them was her brother instead (and not still in a sexual relationship with her, of course). Really, does this one fact have that much impact on the overall plot?

Slog could put a filter on that prevents users from signing up for accounts with numerals in the account name? Or let them sign up, but hold their posts? All these spammers have what look like area codes in their names.

I'm all for poly relationships (gay, straight, bi, male, female, etc etc), but Blake Lively could do better than Taylor or Aaron.

What kind of woman would ever agree to this?

Are you kidding me? When I was younger this was my dream relationship! I'm happily monogamous these days, and way too lazy to manage more than one relationship at a time...but 25 years ago I would've been totally into it.

I, for one, would happily agree to sleep with Aaron Johnson (even with bad hair) and Taylor Kitch at the same time. Repeatedly.

Yeah, seems to me that a fairly large minority of women would be very happy with this, if the guys were fully on board and not assholes about it. I've tended in my life to be kinda in love with two guys at once fairly often, and wouldn't this be the perfect solution.

Oh, Dan, you are preaching to the choir! Not even seeing this movie with my dad could diminish how fucking hot it would be to fuck both those gorgeous men on a regular basis.

@4,

You beat me to it. Seems like the onscreen relationship would be more believable had they gone with a sexy actress with personality, and not pretty window dressing.

Apparantly, Michael Stipe wanted to fuck him too. The way he writhes, bends, and shakes his sexy body in R.E.M.'s video for "Uberlin" directed by Johnson's baby mama made me desire his fine azz.

...letting them take turns with her in the sack...

What kind of misogynistic bullshit is this? "Letting them"? Huh? No, you fucking idiot. She's fucking them. She ain't "letting them" do shit. She's an active participant.

Um, I'm a fully conscious lesbian and I would sleep with them both. Especially that Aaron guy, he's practically a lesbian anyway, if you squint hard enough.

Lively kills it. I'm at a point in my life where I have zero vagina tolerances when it comes to romance movies with hot guys in them. I just get tired of seeing straight relationships. I want to see full on balls to the wall (so to speak) gay relationships, and not the tragic and/or tepid ones like Brokeback Mountain. It's getting to where I can't even watch silly rom com's with Kate Hudson/Katherine Heigl/Other Clone of Meg Ryan. God, why do straight people have to keep shoving it in our faces!

Now put Andrew Garfield in there and we'll talk.

I've had two boyfriends for over five years now. I'm marrying one of them this fall, and the other one just threw us an engagement party. He's also going to walk me down the aisle. Oh and my matron of honor is my betrothed's other girlfriend. They've been together for what? 17 years? Something like that. And with the full approval of her husband. So yeah, if bunch of ordinary people in their 30s and 40s can manage it, why not smoking hot fictional characters?

It's one thing to express one's personal sex-negativity, it's another to use that bias as a criticism of a film.

Roger Ebert, whom I normally like a lot, reviewed a film not long ago -- I think it was French -- and criticized it not for its merits as a film, but because of the implausibility of an polyamorous scenario (his point of view seemed to be that any form of polyamory strains credulity).

In this case, the comment is even stranger, because as Dan pointed out, it's obviously plausible that a woman would want to have sex with both Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch -- together, one-on-one, in basically any way shape or form they can be arranged in. So do I. Do they sell tickets for that ride?

Is his position that women are too demure to agree to such things? That they shouldn't want such a thing? Or that he as a heterosexual man (he can't be gay, no gay man would question the desirability of a Johnson/Kitsch tryst) would not be comfortable doing it so therefore it's implausible that any men would? There's sexism all over that paragraph of his review.

I bet he liked "Y Tu Mama Tambien" right up until that last part too.

I'm a completely straight guy who loves me an occasional MMF 3-way. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Never made a LTR out of these things but I've had a couple of FWB situations where these came up repeatedly.

I am here by entering my consent to a threeway with those two. Because if the chance were to ever really arrive, I'd faint from sheer glee and it'd be a damned shame if that were taken as a lack of consent or refusal.

I kinda fell for Aaron in Nowhere Boy. Fine job of being a young, sexy Lennon. No wonder the 40-year-old director wanted to bang the shit out of him. I sat through Kick-Ass regrettably because of him and how he barely stuffed himself inside that green costume. (Can I hear an amen?)

@17 You're right. For the writer, the girl must be a passive victim of the two males who has no self esteem - he can't even acknowledge that she's the one with two partners !

Sorry M. Minogynist, it's time you knew that when we women agree to fuck, it's because we enjoy it, not because we've been tricked into being your sperm disposal.

How come I'm wondering now why this Rodriguez guy is not aware yet that sometimes women do enjoy having sex ?

It's OK when it's in in a three-way,
It's not gay when it's in a three-way!
With a honey in the middle there's some leeway
The area's great in a one, two three-way...

Um, almost everyone I know is polyamorous, and quite a number of them are women living happily in a V with two heterosexual men. Rodriguez has some very strange blinders on there.
