The Magazines of Yesterday's Future

Retronaut has a great collection of magazines for sale in Blade Runner. It's a neat little look at the future as it was imagined in the 1980s; some of these magazines wouldn't look out of place in the background of Robocop or Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. 1980s future was pretty nihilistic, in a splashy, over-the-top kind of way.

"CREATIVE EVOLUTION" would look right at home on the zine rack at Left Bank.

Who would've guessed that The Running Man would be the most prescient vision of our future.

If you like nihilistic 80s scifi, make sure you see Hardware. (It's from 1990 so it's 80s if you count that way.)
