The 22nd Gun Murder in Seattle This Year: A 21-year-old Seattle woman died yesterday after the shooting at a Southeast Seattle house party Saturday night, which left 20 to 30 shell casings on the ground, three men and two other women injured, and detectives searching for two or more shooters.
The New President of Our Neighbor to the South: Enrique Peña Nieto represents the party that ruled for most of the 20th century in Mexico, which is claiming to be back in power after yesterday's elections. Octavio Paz once called the party "philanthropic ogres," and some people were ashamed to say they'd voted for it given its corrupt past, especially ties to organized crime. Peña Nieto is married to a soap opera star, he defeated a centrist and a leftist, and he's 45 years old.
