Gates and Ballmer Each Give $100,000 to Marriage Equality

Posted by on Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 3:48 PM

That's according to records filed with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission by the campaign trying to approve Referendum 74.

It's a good start. You know, yaaaaaay. But if Bill Gates can contribute $1 million to the charter schools initiative and Steve Ballmer can spend $425,000 on a campaign to defeat an income tax on the wealthy—both efforts championed by conservatives—then they can afford to spend a little more on marriage equality this year. Just to balance things out.

Giving to Marriage Equality is good PR for the economic elites and potentially profitable--maybe they foresee the possibility of marketing software products that satisfy the needs of married gay couples. Doesn't inconvenience the profit bottom line like an income tax on the wealthy.

Dom, you're really something. Three years ago I begged you to write about Olympia gutting public education. Several times via email you said you would, but never did. Now you supposedly give a fuck about charter schools?!? You just see an opportunity to stick it to The Man.

@6 Olympia is far outside the realm of Capitol Hill.

And unlike drugs, they don't affect Capitol Hill.
