Crime Six Shot at Rainier Beach House Party

The SPD Blotter reports:

Last night, at about 8:00 pm, there was a large house party in the 9700 Block of Lindsey Place South (near the intersection of Renton Ave. S. and Lindsey Pl. S.). This party had several hundred guests in attendance. [...]

According to witnesses, there was a rap party in the backyard when someone fired shots into the air. This led to a disturbance with people running and more shots fired throughout the yard and into the street. Six people, both male and female, were struck. ... One of the victims has life-threatening injuries.

WTF...the city needs to rethink its strategy in south Seattle...more police, more $$$ toward social programs - I'm sure there are better models out there from other cities - New York, San Fran...I just know what we're doing isn't working and we have this huge economic and social disparity between North and south end that no politician has the balls to figure out...we can do better!

#2 I hear what you're saying but what "social" program is going to take the glamour out of having a gun? There are basketball courts and ball fields and after school programs and church programs but having a gun is far more meaningful to some. Economic privilege did not keep a mentally ill White man from shooting white folk in a coffee shop and heading to West Seattle to blow his head off. It's NOT economics it's deeper.

@9: You should try remembering past news too. Having house parties getting shot up is nothing new for Seattle. I'm starting to anticipate this annual reports.

If only there was someway to identify night clubs and house parties that might be more prone to gunfights, then we'd all be safer.

I drove by this party around midnight and it was HUGE, I’ve heard there was a DJ and it was a pretty mixed crowd .. there were kids from private and public schools ... it’s fucked up that so many people are armed these days ...

hey assholes ... these are peoples kids you are joking about ... most teenagers have no sense of the potential danger they are exposing themselves to. They don’t know what nice kid they hang out with in school has a brother who might be in a gang and social media spreads word of a party pretty wide... you feel pretty smug sitting in your apartment joking about this stuff but from where I sit you seem like a bunch of heartless jerks.
