@1: Polyamory is a lifestyle, not a sexual orientation. There are no people who are attracted only to multiple people and not to individuals, you gibbering halfwit.
@1 - If you can come up with a reasonable bill to adapt divorce, child support, property, benefits, taxes and the thousand other legal considerations around married partnership for 3+ people, I'll consider polygamy a legal possibility. Until then, it's nigh impossible to logistically legalize and completely a red herring.
Dan, Dan....
Everyone - theoretically - has full and equal protection "under the laws."
What they mean by " and the Constitution" is anybody's guess.
Right now, the laws (most states and the Fed) say that marriage is between a man and a woman. There was no mention of changing the laws. And nobody said the "M" word.
Hey dimwit at 6...gay marriage is already legal in DC. So, they don't need to change the laws to make gay marriage legal. It's a statement of supporting the wildly popular status quo here.
I'm not surprised. DC has by far the most moderate republicans I've ever met. I've even considered voting for some of them (and then they shot themselves in the foot over something stupid, not gay marriage, usually, but they came darn close to winning my vote). They're going after young, moderate residents of the city. We support marriage equality, excellent infrastructure, and are sick of being called myopic little twits because we think it just might be a good idea to make the city more livable. While a nice group of progressives are blooming here, their real opponents are the old, socially conservative guard who believe in massive welfare spending and no development.
You know, the marriage forms at city hall in my state all have "F" and "M" boxes only and they printed a zillion of them so gosh we really can't be bothered with recognizing homosexual "marriage" cause it would just foul up the paperwork terribly...

You do realize that polygamy has existed as long as humans have married, don't you?
And that half of the nations on earth recognize it?
We are so sorry that it hurts your head to contemplate.
Perhaps Junior could loan you some Midol.

Lame troll is lame. Congrats to DC Repubs. If the Log Cabin folks can actually start making changes in the party's dynamics they will deserve a ton of credit. That's a big if though. Have they considered voting for Gary Johnson? (/political whoring)
Yeah, upon further reflection, this really just isn't a big deal. Before marriage equality was achieved in DC, surveys put popular support for it at somewhere between 65 and nearly 80%. Several Democratic and Independent candidates (the old-school social conservatives I mentioned before) have either lost over opposing gay marriage or had to change their position to win around and since that time. Republican candidates have had a hard time gaining traction in DC, and opposing a social issue near and dear to many DC residents' hearts would make it even harder (everyone here knows that the city wouldn't be as awesome as it is without the development of numerous "gayborhoods" throughout the 90's and early 2000's...thanks for fighting the crime and blight, gay folks!). This is truly a no-brainer for them, as they try to position themselves as the party of small government and extensive development in DC. I'd be more shocked if they came out in favor of Capital Bikeshare subsidies and accelerating the building of DC's planned streetcar network using public funds.
