My Dear Leader Markos, Tomorrow at Town Hall

Posted by on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 2:12 PM

Markos Moulitsas, the founder of Daily Kos and the spiritual leader of the national Netroots movement—the man whose talking points and marching orders I slavishly follow—will be speaking at Town Hall Seattle tomorrow afternoon, Saturday June 30, from 3 to 4:30pm, at a benefit for Darcy Burner.

Markos is always a fascinating and outspoken speaker. Hope to see some of you there.

Shouldn't this event be scheduled someplace in the Congressional District in which she is a candidate. Holding these events in Seattle, including as I recall a forum involving all the D candidates several months ago, make no sense to me. If I were a voter in the 1st District I would be put off by these Seattle events.

@2: Candidates hold events outside of district all the time. I suppose they shouldn't have come our offices for the endorsement interview either, huh?

@3. Sure candidates go out of district, even out of state, to hold fundraisers and parties, but they generally don't bring in a headliner and hold the event across a short bridge from their district. Is there a shortage of meeting halls on the East side, or of politically motivated people with a few bucks to spare for an evening out? You don't see candidates for Mayor of Seattle holding pep rallies at Meydenbauer Center.

Hope to see "some" of us there? Ten bucks and a used hanky Will in Seattle will sidle up to you and start talking "inside baseball" at a really awkward moment. 11 bucks and a dried rawhide he won't introduce himself first.

@5, you forgot to mention the gambit whereby he continues to sidle until he's in front of you and turns you until it's either him or the wall. With extra emphasis and lean if you're a girl. Creep city. "Did I mention I'm from Canada?"
