You Have Seen This, Right?

King Street Station is King Tut Street Station for now.

THE CITY IS UNDER THE SWAY OF AN EXHIBITION SO EPIC, IT CHANGES THE NAMES OF OUR MOST BEAUTIFUL PUBLIC BUILDINGS.

Or, here's a review by our realist writer, Erin Langner.

Yes, I have seen it. I even have a picture of me with it!

Anubis guarding the train station? A bit of a demotion, but still I'm for it.

What's your writer's deal with being so down on archaeological inspiration?

Oh, and I'm just old enough to have gone to the exhibit at the old SAM in '78. My fontanelle may have been a bit soft still, but I have vague memories of that being a very, very big deal to the city then as well.

Saw that when they were putting it up. As my buddy said, "apparently we're Anubis worshipers now."

I, for one, am prepared to do homage to our jackal-headed overlord whenever embarking upon the Sounder.

The 78 exhibit was at the Seattle Center as well (not the old SAM), and was far superior. Kinda scared the bejeusus out of me (I was 8). It freaked me out that all that stuff belonged to a dead “kid”, and I stayed up at night afraid the curse would "get me". I still have my copy of the exhibition catalog.

@7 - Oh shit that's right, it was Seattle Center. I had a very similar experience; with a Tutankhamun poster my folks bought me a let me hang in my room—his eyes just fucking stared at me all night. Totally afraid to take it down or suffer some ancient curse. I maybe have moved out of that bedroom with the poster still hanging when I got old enough to Greg Brady my ass down to the basement.

A religious display on public grounds? Not on my watch!

I saw it in the 70's in New York. So there.
