Suzan DelBene is up on the air with her first TV ad, so I guess you could call it the start of the air war in the 1st Congressional District sorta in the way that NATO fights air wars by establishing a no-fly zone, and then bombing the shit out of everybody else. None of DelBene's Democratic opponents—Steve Hobbs, Laura Ruderman, Darcy Burner, and Darshan Rauniyar—can afford to do much in the way of broadcasting advertising during the primary race, so the well-financed DelBene campaign will mostly have the airwaves to itself.

Will it be enough to validate the support DelBene has received from the Democratic establishment, and carry her through to the November general election? It's hard to say. I suppose it makes sense to lead off with an introductory biographical ad, and this portrait of DelBene as someone who knows from economic hardship is a useful contrast to her current status as a one-half-of-one-percenter. But my sense is that she will have to hit harder if she hopes to close the gap in the polls.
