You don't need a whole mess of words to talk about Anne Petty's paintings. They depict people in awkwardly elegant poses is all. I believe those are the exact words used by fellow artist Norman Lundin in describing Petty's works on display at his Madrona gallery, Prographica.

The painting above is part of an implied narrative because it's hung in a row of three that you naturally read left to right on the wall of the gallery. Closet II and Closet III are on the jump.

The show containing Petty's closets is a group exhibition called The Back View (lots and lots of images here), and there's an artist talk (including, but not limited to, Petty) today at 2. The show is up through July 14.
