If Al Gore Invented the Internet, Mitt Romney Kind of Invented Outsourcing

Posted by on Fri, Jun 22, 2012 at 12:14 PM

This Washington Post story continues a string of bad news for Mitt Romney:

During the nearly 15 years that Romney was actively involved in running Bain, a private equity firm that he founded, it owned companies that were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States to overseas call centers and factories making computer components, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

While conservatives (and a few liberals) complain about attacking Romney's Bain record, this is absolutely fair game. Romney has spent the last few months complaining about the outsourcing of jobs to China. Romney has directly profited from outsourcing, and he should be made to answer for that.

You can't have your free-market capitalism and eat it too.

Look, they just said that the hyper-rich investor class were "job creators." They didn't specify where.

A winning issue! But do Democrats have it in them to use it? If this was on Obama's professional history, Republicans would hammer it, every minute of every day til Election Day and beyond. Somebody on the Obama campaign needs to make "outsourcing" and "Romney" synonymous terms.

Fair game? The RNC mastered attacking candidates' families, and hopes to gut Medicare and Medicaid for additional tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. They want to bankrupt the country, what the fuck does 'fair game' have to do with any of this?

Of course it's fair game. He put it on the table when he initially claimed that Bain created 100,000 jobs.

You are correct, on one of those very rare times, about Romney, but let's be accurate about the Internet, shall we?

It was the Kennedy administration which appointed J.C.R. Licklider, who sagely funneld the ARPA funding at the Pentagon to the likes of Vint Cerf, Paul Baran, Jon Postel, et al. (as in other superior tech types) which is responsible for the Internet, and coupled with the advances from that other JFK administration super-sized R&D project, NASA and the moon project, created the groundwork for the Web over the Internet.

The advances many enjoy today can be directly traced back to the last authentic democratic president, John F. Kennedy, and please let us never forget the obvious and similarly bizarre patterns surrounding President Kennedy's murder, Rev. Martin Luther King's murder, and Bobby Kennedy's murder, which took place this month back in 1968.

In each horrible and tragic event, the FBI either didn't investigage and/or fabricated much of the investigation.

Case in recent point: During the RFK investigation, nowhere does the FBI look into the backgrounds and connections between the just hired security guard, Thane Cesar, and the bizarre witness who wasn't identified by so many other witnesses, as even being there, Valerie Schulte.

Cesar worked at the classified area at Lockheed, as did Valerie Schulte's aunt and uncle (a nuke physicist there), and her father worked at Technicolor Corporation, sometimes on a classified project with Lockheed (film processing regarding both the SR-71 and the Keyhole spy satellite program). Truly amazing and "coincidental" ???

And Sirhan, Schulte and Cesar and each been in the hospital for reason not that long ago: probable unwitting participants in Richard Helm's MK-ULTRA program.

Romney sends american jobs to foreign lands to be performed by foreign workers.

Obama sends americans to foreign lands to be tortured by foreign soldiers.

Hey, fair is fair, right?

If it were just about attacking Romney for outsourcing, I'd say that was demagoguery. But if he's now campaigning against outsourcing himself (not sure what he expects a regulation-free government to do about it anyway), that's hypocrisy and completely fair game.

@7: Um, you know that Obama hasn't started any wars involving American boots on foreign soil, and has in fact been drawing down the wars started by his predecessor?
