Last night, Bloomberg ran a story about the Romney campaign telling Florida Governor Rick Scott to stop talking about Florida's improving unemployment rates:

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named.

Now the Romney and Scott campaigns are denying the story. But a number of statements from other Republican governors in states with improving unemployment numbers sound a whole lot like the talking points the Romney campaign allegedly gave Scott. I'm starting to think the Romney campaign might be developing a serious leak problem.

In any case, Romney is probably right to be worried about Scott trumpeting the recovery: A new Quinnipiac poll has Obama up four points over Romney in Florida.
