Pretty much the same thing I posted below about Rodney King. I'm putting it here again because some of the comments are going to get really ugly.

King has much mocked for that begging everyone to just get along, but it was a plea for peace at a time of horrible destruction and police negligence, when the divisions created by public policies had poor people turning on each other.

King was never a saint, but he seemed to do the best he could, though he was always haunted by the beating that defined his life for so many of us. I recall an article back in April profiling him that portrayed him as trying to move on, but maybe not always managing to. I hope he did find some peace and happiness in recent years.

The comments are going to get ugly, here if they're not restricted, and certainly everywhere else this is reported.

RIP, Rodney King. Condolences to loved ones.

so what if comments get ugly and full of lies? this is free speech, and by the process of the Marketplace of Ideas, the best ideas and truth will win out, especially when they're backed by billionaire donations to make sure they're heard the most, because after all, speech, is money, that way, our money of the one percent gains constitutional protection to dominate everyone else.

Rodney King was the only decent person who ever appeared on "Celebrity Rehab". Rest in peace.

With the new Crown Prince in Saudi Arabia, it looks like the Kingdom is finally ready to move into the fifteenth century!

I'm rooting for Syriza. I hope they win, and hope they succeed in turning Greece around, even if it means Euro exit. We need to end austerity and get people back to work all across the developed world, and a successful turnaround in Greece will raise the likelihood of a global turnaround.

The Cascades story says $150 an acre, not $125.

Yeah...that alehouse theater is a total dick...

The girl who left that message, sure you can blast her for being inarticulate (hmm, where have I heard a person's ability to 'articulate' properly referred to as either a "compliment" or a derision?) but she has a point.

I have texted before to find my fellow moviegoers after spending $20+ for concessions and yeah, theaters get dark. I stood there like an ass, wandered up both isles, stood in the back by the door and texted to find out where my friends were. You can bet that I'd be pissed if they threw me out for that shit. Girl sounds like a reasonable person (phone was silent) and this theater just made a total cock of itself, of which it seems SO PROUD. Gross. I wonder if the fact the CUSTOMER (ooh, nasty, why'd she say that? lol) was a girl had anything to do with this...and I bet the dick that posted this shit was a dude. No, really, I'd put money on that--take me to Vegas.

@ 8, get the back story here.

We do not tolerate people that talk or text in the theater. In fact, before every film, we have several warnings on screen to prevent such happenings. Occasionally, someone doesn't follow the rules, and we do, in fact, kick their asses out of our theater. This video is an actual voicemail from a woman that was kicked out of one of our Austin theaters. Thanks, anonymous woman, for being awesome.

Maybe she called and complained because she was a woman (I can't see a douchebag male doing that - he'd perceive it as a wussy way to express his indignation), but there's zero reason to believe that they're more likely to throw a woman than a man out.

The Sunday News

This morning on one of the American Propaganda Network nodes, CBS, they were reporting the "news"?

First, the career propaganda specialist, Dan Levine, interviewed the shill from RAND.

This was the "news"?

Next, Dan interviewed the shill from the Brookings Institution.

This was the "news"?

The events on 9/11 were constantly mentioned --- the superficial events, that is.

Somehow, all of them had amnesia regarding the announcement by the Pentagon's comptroller on 9/10/01 of the unaccounted for $2.3 trillion missing from the DoD's budgets?

Somehow, all of them had amnesia regarding the destruction of that auditing team the very next day on 9/11 --- when a plane crashed into the west wall of the Pentagon --- the very same DIA auditing team who had uncovered that unaccounted for $2.3 trillion?

Now that would have been news!

[Special note: 38% of union households in Wisconsin once again voted for Gov. Walker --- guess where they get their "news" from?]

Want to see a photo of police brutality? Look up the photo of Issac Bitton and his son being attacked by a black lynch mob in Crown Heights while the police stand by and do nothing. One one paper (NY Daily News) ever published it.

Let's look the record of Mr. Rodney King, the urbanist dream community member:

According to a complaint filed by his first wife, King beat her while she was sleeping, then dragged her outside the house and beat her again. A robbery and assault conviction. Arrested multiple times for driving under the influence, and spent short stints in prison in the late 1990s for assaulting his ex-wife and daughter…..oh, and evading police and driving 115 mph through a residential neighborhood.

But maybe he had a 'Give Cyclists 3 feet' bumper sticker so he must have been a stand up guy?

Condolences to his family? Which ones, the women he didn't assault?

I love the Alamo Drafthouse just for this! I very rarely go to the movies anymore because I am so fucking sick of people messing with their phones in movie theaters.

Boy, we sure did blow it. Everyone knows that an individual mandate with loose regulation and no price or cost controls is the only way to keep the for-profit health insurance protection racket -- er, I mean, market -- going. Thank God for Obamacare, eh? In this connection, I just love how the Washington Post article glossed over how the Washington legislature rejected single-payer in a lone sentence. Wouldn't want anyone to look into that, I'm sure. People might start figuring out who gives the legislature, and Congress, their marching orders on health care.

@8,

The Alama Drafthouse is the type of theater where they bring your food and drinks to YOU. So, sorry, your excuse of trying to find your friends when returning from buying concessions won't quite work there.
