...it's a POWER SANDER (duh). Not too late to get down to the Georgetown Carnival for the power tool races! Plus lots, lots, more...

Georgetown Carnival: Girl Trouble, F-Holes, NighTraiN, DragStrip Riot, Knut Bell and the Blue Collars, Black Crabs, Banzai Surf
(Trailer Park Bandstand) The Georgetown Carnival is always an unbelievably wild time in the streets—literally. It's hands-down the best neighborhood party of the year. There's music, food, art, the infamous power-tool races, carnival games, a classic car show, and something called the "Freakatorium." It'll be great to see Girl Trouble, undisputed kings of Tacoma garage rock, plus seven other bands play on the outdoor stage. There'll also be some pretty heavy hearts this year, as God's Favorite Beefcake—whose members Drew and Joe senselessly lost their lives this week—were scheduled to play. Promoter Larry Reid says they'll keep Beefcake's time slot open for an official remembrance. KELLY O

A nice homage to Ed "Big Daddy" Roth.
