Sunday: Experience Something Weird and Awesome

Posted by on Fri, Jun 1, 2012 at 3:22 PM

It has been one hell of a long, rough week, Seattle. You know what helps caps weeks like this, aside from drinking boxed wine in a bathtub* until you barf?

Laughter. Experiencing something so weird and awesome that it shocks you out of your troubled head for awhile. In that regard, you're in luck: This Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. is the anniversary show of Weird and Awesome with Emmett Montgomery at the Annex Theatre, a variety show fueled by spectacle, comedy, talent, and the amazing discomfort of watching people do things outside of their comfort zone, like crying on stage. (Kidding!)

Sunday's lineup will feature singing clown-dancer Jenna Bean Veatch! Puppeteer Kyle Loven! Comedian Kermet Apio! House Weirdoes Travis Clarke and Kevin Vogt! Beloved yellow journalist Brendan Kiley! Lovely prizes and jokes from tween prodigy Barbara Holm!

Sunday, June 3, 7:30 p.m., $5-$10, Annex Theatre. Go laugh your ass off and help celebrate the anniversary of this freakish flipper baby of a variety show. You won't regret it.

*Easy cleanup.

And booze: lots and lots of delicious and very cheap (for the moment at least; we managed to slide in a massive order before the turnover!), mind-numbing alcoholic beverages!

Thank you for the kind words Cienna, the 2nd anniversary of the show is actually in December, we will be celebrating the 34th anniversary of me falling out of my mom. My wife is making tomato soup cupcakes and their should be enough for everyone.

This is one of the best shows in Seattle. It's never NOT completely charming, sick, hilarious, and/or wonderful.
15 years from now, locals will brag that they saw Emmet's show 'back in the day,' before he became the Benevolent Ruler of the Comedy Universe. Everyone will say "yes," of course, but only some of us will have some good stories to tell...
