Meaty Johnson’s BBQ to Open in Pioneer Square
Cowgirls Inc. to House Local Infamous BBQ Flavors

(Seattle, WA—May 21, 2012)— Local music promoter, businessman and food connoisseur Zac “Meaty” Johnson announces the opening of Meaty Johnson’s BBQ in Pioneer Square. Located at Cowgirls Inc at 421 1st Avenue South, Meaty Johnson’s BBQ will open on THURSDAY, MAY 31.

“Having Meaty Johnson’s BBQ at Cowgirls Inc sounded fun to us,” says Zac. “The whole place already looks like a backyard BBQ and though we are poking fun at our name, we are serious about our BBQ.”

Meaty Johnson’s BBQ came about after years of Zac’s friends demanding his food at every backyard gathering, party and event. For years, Zac didn’t catch on that this could be something real. Finally, he began BBQ-ing on the rooftop at the War Room, often running out of food. Customers wanted to know where they could get more. Where was his store?, they asked. He didn’t have one, but would refer them to his next event. At parties and events, the line was out the door waiting for his BBQ. He couldn’t keep up. Zac needed to look for a way to bring BBQ to the masses.

With the demand growing for Meaty Johnson’s BBQ, Zac started getting asked almost daily when he was going to open a place where BBQ lovers could get their favorite Meaty Johnson’s dishes. When one of the owners of Cowgirls Inc approached Zac, the conversation led to the opening of Meaty Johnson’s BBQ. “The décor and ambiance at Cowgirls Inc. feels like an easygoing, outdoor BBQ, a perfect fit for this food,” says Zac. “And where else could be a better place to put a BBQ place called Meaty Johnson’s!?”

Meaty Johnson’s BBQ will be serving their real backyard BBQ in the backyard of the Mariners, Sounders and Seahawks before each home Sounders and Mariners games this Spring and into Summer. Zac also has a traveling smoker for cooking and will be seen at many events around the region this summer, including the Bite of Seattle July 20-22.

“Seattle is in for a treat with Meaty Johnson’s BBQ finally having a home,” says David Tran, Co- Owner of Cowgirls Inc. “Its just the right combination of crispiness, tanginess, tenderness and juiciness. The line will be out the door as soon as the word gets out.”

Meaty Johnsons BBQ is dedicated to giving back to the Seattle community, and has set aside the last Friday of EVERY month to be “charity night”. On these nights each month, Meaty Johnsons BBQ will pair with a local charity to give a percentage of the proceeds from the evening directly to the organization they are partnering with. Watch the website www.meatyjohnsons.com for more information on their partner organizations.

“We live in such a vibrant community, but one with a great amount of need as well,” says Zac. “We want to do our part to really be a part of this community by giving what we can in our own small way.”

Meaty Johnson’s BBQ will serve a brisket or pulled pork sandwich smoked for up to 15 hours, finger-licking crispy but tender BBQ ribs made with Meaty Johnson’s homemade sauce, and BBQ chicken smoked low and long. Homemade coleslaw and fresh cut fries, baked beans, brisket chili and onion rings round out the menu. Meats are natural and locally sourced, and cooked using indirect heat with the perfect blend of apple, hickory and mesquite woods.

“Meaty Johnson’s BBQ food has a strong fan base, and now that we have a home, those who love real BBQ can finally pull up a stool when they are craving our slow-smoked, genuine BBQ flavor— instead of waiting for us to appear at the next event,” adds Zac.

Meaty Johnson’s BBQ will be open for business starting May 31, serving delicious BBQ every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:00-10:00pm. Additionally, it will serve its BBQ goodness whenever Seattle has a home sporting event (Mariners, Sounders, Seahawks and Husky football). Located at Cowgirls Inc in Pioneer Square, Meaty Johnsons BBQ can be reached via phone at (206) 340-0777. It is a 21+ restaurant. Get more information, including a full menu, at www.meatyjohnsons.com.
