Lisa Brown: Over it.
  • Lisa Brown: Over it.
Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown (D-Spokane) is done with Olympia—but not too done to sit yesterday for a quick Stranger exit interview.

Amid a flurry of calls and statements from public officials praising her service, Brown answered a few questions about what two decades in the state legislature—and 10 years leading the senate Democrats—taught her. More later, but for now here's what Brown said when I asked for her biggest frustration with the legislature as an institution:

I would say that one of my biggest frustrations about the institution of politics—not just the legislature—is the way that money is unrestricted and everyday people’s voices can get drowned out by the big bucks. That is definitely a frustration that I’ve felt since the beginning. There are campaign limits, but there are so many ways to get around those limits.
