Jen,
I saw it Wednesday afternoon. Outstanding. Wow, those colors in the paintings were vibrant. I have not been to Tahiti (Moorea) but have rendered the Cook Islands (Raratonga) a visit. The show most certainly reminded me of it. Also, I had just seen "Mutiny on the Bounty" (1962 color version featuring Marlon Brando & Trevor Howard which was photographed in Tahiti). So, it was quite fortuitous to have attended the show at that time. The sculptures were extraordinary as well. Really glad I went.

SAM seems bent on bringing in the most out of place artists to the Pacific Northwest. Picasso and Gauguin. Ok, we get it...you'd rather live in New York...but please, you don't have to rub our noses in it every day.

It's yet another example of Faux Seattle wanting to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. Hey, sow's ears can be useful as is!
