Seattle artist Buddy Bunting has been criss-crossing the country making deadpan portraits of prisons for years. He's one of those artists who doesn't care about trends and who isn't influenced by just about anything—except the part of the world around him he's chosen to pay attention to, which in his case happens to be the American penal system.

I've always loved Buddy Bunting's works. Here is a recorded interview I did with him in 2009. His new show, Flat Time Blue, opens next Thursday, May 3, at Prole Drift.
