"Methadone and the Politics of Pain," the Seattle Times series that won the Pulitzer in investigative reporting yesterday for showing, according to the citation, "how a little known governmental body in Washington State moved vulnerable patients from safer pain-control medication to methadone, a cheaper but more dangerous drug." It was, the citation went on, "coverage that prompted statewide health warnings."
