Does Jeff Bezos Own a Fluffy White Cat?

Posted by on Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 2:48 PM

Barron's says:

Amazon.com (AMZN) this afternoon announced it will republish all of Ian Fleming‘s “James Bond” books under its imprint, Thomas & Mercer, beginning this summer,

I really enjoy Fleming's Bond books. They're a different beast than the movies, but they're lean, speedy thrillers, and more cerebral than you'd expect. And best of all, they're available in just about any used book store around the country for cheap.

To be perverse, you can buy them from used bookstores through the Amazon-owned site Abebooks for a few bucks.

For those who only know Bond via the movies, the original novels are a terrific - not to mention very different -- insight to the character. Plus, they're incredibly quick reads, any of which can easily be consumed in an afternoon.

@2: Which is precisely why they'll make perfect Kindle-fodder!

(Bezos is many things, but idiot is not one of them.)

If he did own a fluffy white cat, it wouldn't pay any taxes, that's for sure.

On the other hand, I doubt he'd strap it to the roof of his hovercar.

Amen! The movies suck ass, but the books are lean and mean without an ounce of cute. Fleming was a neanderthal when it came to women, though.

"..more cerebral than you'd expect.."

Just the sort of comment one expects from Constant, who is probably ignorant of the fact that the CIA was originally created with the onsite advise of MI6's director, along with his special assistant, one Ian Fleming......

How can one fail to be impressed with the breadth and depth of Paulie's knowledge and sophistication (OK, just being sarcastic now......)?
