Judicial candidates (and one aide) await their turn to speak to 37th LD Dems.

I don't stop by my Democratic legislative district monthly meetings too often, but each time I do I am freshly reminded of why I don't stop by my Democratic legislative district monthly meetings too often. Oh my god they are boring. And last night's meeting of the 37th LD was no exception.

And I don't mean to call out my neighbors in the 37th. All the LDs are like this. It's the nature of the beast.

It's kind of a shame, really. At last night's meeting we had former Mayor Greg Nickels, future former Mayor Mike McGinn, Seattle City Council member Mike O'Brien, state Democratic Party chair Dwight Pelz, plus a gaggle of superior court and supreme court judicial candidates. These meetings are a fantastic opportunity for ordinary citizens to back a politician into a literal corner and force him or her to answer your questions... the kinda one-on-one retail politics that keeps the democratic process honest. But they can be so godawful boring that of the few citizens who show up, fewer still can ever bring themselves to return.

I don't really have any particular point to make, but fuck if I wasn't at least going to get a post out of my efforts.
