Arts The Sounds and Images of Globalization

This video, which concerns a trash art project in Santo Domingo, captures the true spirit of globalization...
...an economic process that, for billions people, moves up from the bottom, not down from the top.

Sigh. I miss Dan Savage. At least he still responds to my e-mails (even if it takes him a week these days).

You can talk about the horrors of globalization, but there are some benefits.
For example, you should watch 48 Hours episode on Honor Killings...in which a father deliberately ran over (and killed) his 18 year old daughter and her friend because she had adopted the American lifestyle -- wearing mall clothes, having a boyfriend -- and he felt it besmirched his family's honor.
These killing go on all the time, whether here in America or elsewhere. If globalization means the entire world adopting American standards of freedom and liberty then I'm all for it.
