Books Queen Anne Books Has Been Sold

I told you a month and a half ago that the owner of Queen Anne Books was looking to sell the business. There's a happy ending to this story: QAB just Tweeted:

Secret revealed: the new owner's name is Katharine Hershey. She's a regular customer and she'll be taking over as owner mid-month...Watch for a letter from the new owner in the May in-store flyer.

This is great news for Queen Anne, and it's happy news for Seattle's book culture, too. Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to Hershey about her new purchase in the weeks to come.

Finally! A bookstore with a happy ending, just like in Idiocracy. Can I have my jet pack now?

I give it six months. "Wouldn't it be cool to own a bookstore" is second only to "wouldn't it be cool to own a restaurant/bar." I don't doubt the new owner's good intentions, but that's not enough...

Orino, you're quick to slam someone - do you know whether this woman's 'good intentions' are backed up by a solid business plan or not? Do you know anything about her at all? How 'bout wishing her all the best and being happy that Queen Anne - and Seattle - is retaining an independent bookstore!

Katharine, all the best to you. I'll be at your first anniversary celebration!
