Some ECCC highlights:
· The George Takei Q&A was hosted by Danny Bonaduce, which was slightly unfortunate... but George was charming and lovely as always. George spoke on a number of topics, including: how his upcoming musical about the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII, Allegience, came to be; how "Oh my!" became his signature quote; about his important work promoting LGBT rights and why it's "OK to be Takei!"; and he told a hilarious story about introducing the Star Trek: TOS cast to sushi in the '60s. George is signing autographs at ComiCon today, you can still meet him!
· The giant floor of comic book artists and wares are really what ComiCon is all about. Many of the artists will make commissions for you right at the booth, and if comics and comic art are where it's at for you, I'm not sure why you aren't at ComiCon instead of reading this post.
· I played The Walking Dead board game, which is actually pretty fun... easy to learn if you're (like me) not a hard-core boardgamer. Obviously it's better if you're a fan, but even non-fans can enjoy the zombie-filled gameplay.
· I'd like to put a moratorium on the following things at ComiCon: girls dressed as Poison Ivy or Slave Leia and guys dressed as Jayne or the Tenth Doctor. Also: Green Lantern tee shirts. Men in drag as Poison Ivy or Slave Leia shall be allowed, as well as women dressed as Jayne or the Tenth Doctor. No one shall wear a Green Lantern tee shirt, although they may wear a Green Lantern costume.
· That being said, there are many excellent costumes, including this group pushing around freakin' Captain Pike! (Popular this year: Adventure Time! costumes.) More and more costumes after the jump.
