A new CNN/ORC International poll seems to suggest that Republicans aren't quite as settled on Mitt Romney as the Republican media machine would like us to believe. While six in ten Republicans think Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul should drop out, they want Rick Santorum in the race:

Thirty-nine percent of Republicans say Santorum should end his bid, with nearly six in ten saying the former senator from Pennsylvania should not drop out of the race.

"Republican women are particularly supportive of Santorum continuing his bid for the White House," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "More than two-thirds of GOP the women interviewed said that they wanted Santorum to stay in the race, compared to only 51 percent of men."

Only 36% of all Republicans want Romney for their party's nominee, and it only gets worse from there:

A majority of Santorum voters say that they strongly support their candidate. But six in ten Romney voters say they don't strongly support Romney. And while Republicans view Romney as a strong leader who can defeat Obama in November and get the economy moving again, Santorum scores higher than Romney on likeability, honesty, compassion, values, and his stands on the issues.

Best of all: A shocking 43% of all Republicans want the nominee to be picked at the Republican convention this fall. So: Republican women find Mitt Romney unlikable, most Republicans think Rick Santorum—Rick Santorum!—is more likable than Mitt Romney, and the majority of Romney supporters aren't strong Romney supporters. That's incredible, and it shows that Republicans who say that their party will rally around their man in the fall will have a whole lot of work to do.
