"Flying Robots Deliver Tacos To Your Location"

Posted by on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 10:58 AM

Behold, the future: tacocopter.com.

My husband, the quadcopter enthusiast, says: "This isn't real. It can't be real." He sounds like a kid on Christmas morning when he says it, though. Like he's slowly opening up to the possibility of unexplainable magic and wonder that sits in front of him.

(Of course TacoCopter and LobsterCopter is a joke. But for how long?)

They are not for it "until" it delivers alcohol and pizza?

I thought the TacoCopter tour diary you guys published on Lineout for what seemed like 2 years was kinda cute, mostly stupid. It did however beg the question: Is social media somehow causing bands to focus on becoming taco providers more than musicians?

25, Bailo doesn't do whimsy; he's a fyooturist. He's dead serious; this is going to happen, and copters will bring you your Froot Loops by, let's see, probably October. If it's not raining. So too, I think, is slade.

@5 yes the idea of flying with a jetpack is a terrible stupid idea that could never hold any sort of romanticism or entertainment value. let's all just forget about the concept of whimsy or joy and just drive to the store in a yugo

@4, @3, yah, no liability issues there over cities. You can keep them out of my neighborhood. This is not quite as stupid as jetpacks! but close.

So, I'm really not kidding with the auto-copter stuff. One can imagine a whole suite of Carrier Robots that can do things like bring groceries from the supermarket on demand. Without the need for a human driver, a delivery vehicle could shrink down to the size of a few grocery bags.

And, yes, if somehow you could increase the lift and running time of a quadcopter, why not have a small helipad on your roof so that it could cargo drop goods there like a Chinook helicopter?

a160t hummingbird works and the laws have been passed to let them fly in the states so don't stick your credit card into the rotors
