Sarah Palin Says She Will Debate President Obama "Anywhere, Anytime"

Posted by on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 1:55 PM

On her Facebook wall, last night, Sarah Palin said:

I’m willing and free to discuss these issues with the President anywhere, anytime; and I’m sure any of the four patriots currently running for the GOP nomination would also welcome the opportunity to talk about the problems everyday Americans face due to the abject failure of our current administration’s policies.

And you know what? I think President Obama ought to take her up on it. Why not? I've been waiting for a Sarah Palin/Barack Obama debate since 2008. I'm sure many would argue that taking up an ordinary citizen on a debate would be beneath the office of the president, but I think the office of the president would surely withstand a little free-form conversation on live TV. It would shut Palin up for a while. And as an added bonus, it would undermine Mitt Romney by making Sarah Palin look like the head of the Republican Party. I don't see a downside to this.

It would give her unneeded attention and a publicity boost. The best thing to do is to continue to ignore her and ignore her.

Paul, really? She's just an attention hog. This is her "look at me, look at me, I'm here!"

Sarah Palin could shit on stage then roll around in it without saying a word and Fox news would claim she won the debate. No, I think President Obama should only debate people who actually matter.

I can't wait for him to debate "one of the four patriots" running against him. I think it's gonna be fun.

That you take this seriously is a testament that you've been at this too long.

There are so many risks and contingencies involved, Obama would have to be a complete idiot to ever get in the ring with that hick.

A low level Obama aid should agree to debate Sarah Palin. The president is busy doing important shit right now, Sarah.

And only then if they each agree to dress up like their favorite Patriot and Obama's aid goes as Sam Cunningham.

If it would finally get her to shut up, I'd say go for it...but it would, unfortunately, just fuel her already deluded ego.

No, Just No.

There is no upside for Obama here, none.

You DO remember her previous debates, right?

"I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also." 2 October 2008

Of course she's willing to "debate" Obama.
And by "debate" she means "stand on a stage next to the President of the United States of America as if I matter at all and recite whatever happens to be on my mind at that particular moment with lots of cameras watching me".

I think Obama should NOT debate Palin for the same reasons Richard Dawkins won't debate creationists. It offers Palin unearned legitimacy. And she is the one who needs the publicity.

"due to the abject failure of our current administration’s policies."

And what policies are those?

"Well, there are things that people call policies, like before the civil war, and you need to abject those. Paul Revere did this."

Why bother? She'd just leave in the middle of the debate.

I find it laughable that she thinks anyone would take her seriously in a debate after her "strategy" for the Biden debate in 2008 -- memorize enough talking points to run out the clock.

@10 Yeah. And you've got the added spice of our duskiest president to date being ungracious to a leddeh (by, say, responding to her points with facts). Plenty of downsides.

What if they just sent Sasha or Malia? I'm sure either one of them could go toe-to-toe with Palin. Afterwards, we can taunt her by making reference to "The Disasta In Alaska".

Really? You see no downside with the President engaging on national TV with a shrill know-nothing big mouth? If that's your idea of good debate you might as well support your own and push for a conversation with Will in Seattle.

Palin is the ultimate political strip-tease, thrusting and rubbing her self all over a White House column. The dollars rain down and she gives them another sneak peek at what’s under that dress. See just how nasty America’s Top MILF will get for the cash at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/…

Debating Sarah Palin would be like a boxing match with a dirty diaper. Every blow would land, and she would never hit back, but at the end of it, she'd still be hanging there, basically unhurt, and you'd be angry and your hands would smell like shit.

Reverse Polarity 34
Paul, Paul, Paul... Have you lost your mind? Obama should not even dignify this loon with a response. This is Palin desperately grasping for any sort of attention she can. She would love nothing more than to share the stage with the President of the United States. No matter how badly she did, she would spin it in her favor or play the victim, and she'd sell another few thousand books, and get herself on a few more TV appearances. She is an attention seeking grifter, and the only proper response is to utterly ignore her.

Paul -

I find the perspective that this would hurt the GOP nom. by making Sarah the defacto head of the party to be a very interesting perspective...

I like it, I'm going to think about that for a while, but I really like that idea, that is definitely thinking outside the box!!!

But personally, I wouldn't even respond, and if a reporter asked me (if I were Prez) if I intended to debate Sarah, I'd say, "Who?", and then they'd say, "you know, Sarah Palin", and I'd say, "oh right, her, I didn't realize she was interested in politics after she abandoned her constituents, why would I debate her?" And then everyone would laugh and I'd eat cookies.

As so many others have said: no. Don't legitimize her crazy sense of self-importance. (and for gods' sake don't give the national news media any reason to waste their airtime/print space on her)

If any official response is needed to her Facebook post (!), why not suggest that she write up her concerns and ideas in an email and use the contact form on whitehouse.gov just like any other private citizen?

Calling all of the Republican candidates "patriots" subtly (or not) implies that Obama isn't one. More "real Americans" language intended to scare voters. She needs to go away.

For all the reasons posted above Obama should not (and of course, will never) "debate" Sahara Pailin' (not an autocorrect error).

Additionally, it's better if she continue the crazy, and lead ever more idiotic groups down the road to irrelevancy with her. All the better to divide the deluded.

I think Obama should sent Bo, the dog...

Seriously, the net winner in any debate would be Palin. She may looked like more of a doofus, like her non sensical “Civil War” screed, (I think she meant “Civil Rights Era”) but she would get the attention that she craves, besides the idiots who support her, want to see their Idiot Queen Esther fighting the big bad Muslim.

These type of debate set ups never work, or are bloodbaths. Instead they are rather boring, and it much better to be subdue as Biden did in his debate with Sarah Palin in 2008.

I rather see a Kate Perry versus Sarah Palin debate..

You can't have a real debate with someone who's entirely unencumbered by reality. It was ridiculous that Biden even had to debate this dimwit.

Sarah knows Barack won't debate her. He has no reason to, because she doesn't run anything. Just like he has no reason to debate Grover Norquist, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, or even Jon Stewart. They are not opposing him for the White House. He's running for reelection. So unless Caribou Barbie is planning on throwing her hat in the ring, which is unlikely, because Santorum has the batshit religious right vote sewn up, there is no point to debating her.

Now, if Sarah wanted to prove how brave she was, she SHOULD go on Jon Stewart. It would be the most epic take down since Jim Kramer. Of course, all of her teabagging sycophants would tell everyone how she took HIM down, but their views are not based in reality/reason/logic anyway.
