In case his advertisers and affiliates were wondering, Rush Limbaugh's relentlessly tasteless slandering of a female law student wasn't a one-off or a rare and temporary lapse of judgment. This is Limbaugh's schtick. Which I guess is okay if you want to be associated with this sorta stuff.

FYI, it turns out that Limbaugh's show is aired by only one church-owned or affiliated radio station in the nation, and that would be KTTH, right here in Seattle. KTTH, along with KIRO radio is owned by Bonneville International, the for-profit media arm of the Church of Latter Day Saints. You know, the Mormons. And as Michael Hood points out on Blatherwatch, Limbaugh's offensive tirades are antithetical both to what the LDS professes, and to the Code of Deseret Media that supposedly guides Bonneville and its employees.

I know. As a KIRO radio host I went through Bonneville's mandatory sexual harassment and sensitivity training program after they reacquired the station. And I would never have been permitted to say in the office the kind of things Limbaugh routinely says on their airwaves.

Furthermore, I never sensed from Bonneville management that these guidelines were just for show. These were genuinely nice people. They even cancelled my show nicely. And I can't imagine they enjoy promulgating this sort of sexist hate speech.

And yet through KTTH, that's exactly what they're doing.
