The Washington State Senate just adjourned so that the chamber's Democratic leadership could go directly into a private meeting, presumably about the budget.

Who knows what, exactly, this means.

However, I'm told that despite all the shock and hard feelings generated by Friday's Republican coup, the two sides in the senate are now not all that far apart on possible final budget details. (Which doesn't necessarily mean they'll get to a final deal.) We'll know a lot more tomorrow, which is the day before the scheduled end of the legislative session.
