David Frum looks at how Mitt Romney's claims on Friday that he's in favor of "an across-the-board, 20% reduction in marginal individual income tax rates" flies in the face of the economic plan that Romney offered up last year.
Frum calls this move exactly what it is: A shameful dive for the base, an effort to shore up old and wealthy voters, and completely unrealistic. I used to assume that Romney was going to run for the center as soon as he lined up the nomination. Now I'm wondering if he's going to have to keep his base happy all the way through November.
