2012 / Booze Santorum Shaken, Not Stirred

Slog tipper Joey notified us that Lunchbox Laboratory has a couple of new cocktails:
The Dan Savage: Watermelon Jolly Rancher–infused vodka, Malibu passionfruit, fresh lemonade, and soda served in our signature beaker
Shot of Rick Santorum: Watermelon Jolly Rancher–infused vodka, sour, shaken up with a drop of cream
Subsequently overheard in the office:
"Why isn't the Santorum a frothy chocolate drink? This is more like a Bloody Santorum."
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
I think this last person speaks for all of us.

I'm afraid I'd have to go for a frothy chocolate drink over either of those...watermelon jolly ranchers? bleah....make it green apple and we can talk.

I think a Cement Mixer could be repurposed here: half Bailey's Irish Cream, half Rose's lime juice. Not really frothy; more like curds. But plenty disgusting.

LL has been doing these as monthly promotions for some line of flavored vodkas, and I guess they didn't want to wait around for the chocolate flavor to go on-special.

Santorum should be a shot of Kahlua, shot of Creme de Coaco, shot of cream and shot of vodka and finally, a shot of holy water. Shake until frothy and drink until stupid.

@8 Are you refering to me? Mine has CremeDeCocoa and cream and holy water. Don't forget the holy water. That's important if you don't want what would be a drink known as a "Phony Theology".

Tangent here: Is Watermelon Jolly Rancher–infused vodka a flavor of vodka, or something Lunchbox Laboratory makes themselves? If it's the latter, might want to keep that on the DL from WSLCB, they may get you for that.
And really, shouldn't a shot of Santorum involve Baileys and coffee liqueur?

I'm thinking it would have to be more like:
Santorum:
Plain Gelatin Vodka Jello Shot, crushed.
1 Part Dark Rum
1 Part Chocolate Pudding
Stirred at room temp in a high ball.
Santorum:
Plain Gelatin Vodka Jello Shot, crushed.

@13, if there's santorum in your santorum you're doing it wrong. Santorum is prima facie evidence of doing it wrong.

Back in the day, when the neologism was still new, The Stranger published a cocktail recipe that should probably be recognized the first and "official" version.
I recall that it involved dark creme de cacao, cream and something carbonated (soda). It was to be served in a highball with a napkin and "slammed" in the fashion of a tequila slammer to "froth" the mixture before drinking.
Had one or two just once at a topical holiday cocktail party. Not what I usually drink, but not bad if you didn't think about it too much.
I suspect that the official web site may still include the link if the early entries are still archived. The Stranger staff should have no problem finding it as they published it originally.

@20: One of these years, I will make it out to the West Coast and attend a SLOG Happy and I will drink that shot in front of all of you as a testament to the fortitude of my taste buds, gastrointestinal tract, and cojones.
I am not kidding. I once drank a glass of salsa, chips, broccoli, soda, mustard, onion dip, and other assorted snack foods and drinks as part of a game of Truth or Dare. And I kept drinking after they said I could stop because I like the taste.
Incidentally, in that same game, one girl was Dared to fill her cleavage with hot dogs (it took 11; she is rather well-endowed). And then my GF was Dared to motorboat her, which was made unpleasant by the residual grease. It was pretty much the maximum shitshow you can get without alcohol...
On topic, I'd drink either of those if it weren't for the Jolly Rancher flavoring. Jolly Ranchers are FOUL, man.
